Section 5: Wordpress Alternative

There are other great open-source CMS options besides Wordpress(.org) that also allow you to have control of your content. Though they’re not as popular as Wordpress (because they're more specialized), they have their strengths and features. It all depends on your specific needs.

🌸 My Recommended Wordpress Alternative:

🌷 Ghost.org: Ghost.org is simple and fast, made for those who want to focus on writing and do not need all the extra features. GhostPro is the official managed host for Ghost.org, and it manages the technical side for you.
- Pros: very clean design, great for blogging, SEO, built-in email newsletters monetization so you don’t need to use a 3rd party service, less plug-ins means Ghost doesn't really get bloated/slowed down
- Cons: less themes and plug-ins than Wordpress, smaller community, you'll need to use Markdown language to format posts so there can be a bit of a learning curve if you'e not familiar with it, but it's not super hard!
- Best for: newspaper companies, writers, bloggers, those wanting a fast, simple & beautiful site

Drupal is definitely not something I recommend for beginner bloggers, but just so you know -->

🌷 Drupal.org: more complex than Wordpress, it's used to create government (.gov), healthcare websites and more
- Pros: advanced security, almost any type of website can be built on Drupal
- Cons: steep learning curve, not recommended for beginners
- Best for: large, complex sites
